About Central Volga branch

December 4, 2014 in Samara Order of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation No. 49 established the entral Volga branch of the State Center for Contemporary Art.

In May 2016, the branch became part of the Rosizo.

Mission and vision

The conceptual content of the entral Volga branch of the State Center for Contemporary Arts in the composition of ROSIZO is formed on the basis of the historical function of the FACTORY-KITCHEN building, proceeding from the goals and objectives of the museum-exhibition and scientific-educational activities of the NCCA / ROSIZO.

The goal of the branch is to become a multifunctional resource center for the development of contemporary art in the region and a new point of international exchange, a place for communication between the professional and the viewer community, open for experiments in the field of modern culture.

Innovation of the era of the avant-garde embodied in a unique monument of Soviet constructivism in 1932 FACTORY-KITCHEN, built in the form of a sickle and hammer in the project of the Moscow architect Narpita Ekaterina Maksimova.

The key concepts of the concept of the new museum and exhibition center are the functions directly applied to the modern creative process: FACTORY and KITCHEN. "Kitchen" is considered as a laboratory process, an intellectual, scientific - discussion platform. "Factory" - as a production base of universal purpose, where ideas, works of art, exhibitions and projects materialize.

The emergence of a new branch of the NCCA, which unites various industries related to art, education, science, etc., will promote the processes of decentralization of cultural policy in Russia, the identification and formation of the geopolitical potential of the territory.

It is important to develop the resource of successful existing projects, such as the Shiryaevo Biennale of Contemporary Art, which became a brand of the Samara region on the map of contemporary art, "Street as a museum - a museum as a street."

A new branch can be seen as a driving force for the economic and social regeneration of the urban environment. The building of the Factory-Kitchen connects the historical part of the city with sleeping areas and is located on the border of these zones.

The central task in forming the structure of the new center should be to attract the largest audience. Most cultural institutions of Samara are in its old center, and the main "body" of the city remains in the zone of inaction, which is a huge viewing resource. The factory-kitchen is closest to the factory and sleeping areas and in this sense it can become an ideological "crossroads" not only of the "old" and "new" city, but also of different styles of life and world perception.

The exhibition and educational policy and scientific activity of the entral Volga branch of the NCCA is based on the implementation of both network programs and "big exhibitions" of the NCCA, as well as on its own existing and newly created projects.

The branch demonstrates creativity of both the beginning authors, and the exposition of recognized masters, the representation of collections of other institutions, the Shiryaevo Biennial, open lectures and film screenings for a wide audience, conferences and seminars for professionals, concerts and performances. Also in the new branch there will be a school of contemporary art for different age groups, a children's zone, a residence of artists, a publishing program and a media library, its own production base (Factory), a cafe-club, book and souvenir shops.

By creating the possibility of broad access to the international database on contemporary art, the branch is called upon to unite a wide audience and professional audience engaged in the creation, development, study, support and promotion of contemporary art.
