Andrey Filippov. The seven deadly sins. Photo by Roel Wijnants
In his art Andrey Filillpov uses the famous ideologeme “Moscow is the third Rome”. In the artist’s works Soviet mythology with its cults and fixed symbols is played out like a religious doctrine that has lost its adepts: signs of victrorious socialism have become a part of local history, while Byzantine traditions remain a constant part of all his works. Currently, such an approach has become newly relevant and has gained new interpretations.
