Willem Jan Renders

Born in 1955, studied art history in the Netherlands and in Italy. After that he worked temporarily at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and as head of communications at Kunsthal Rotterdam.

Since 1996, he works at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, first as head of communications and then as head of education and manager of public programmes. Since 2013, he works there as curator of Russian art, as well as writer and editor.

Next to that he is secretary of the Board of the Lissitzky Foundation and Board Member of GRAD (Gallery of Russian Art and Design) in London.

He is currently preparing the exhibition Chagall, Lissitzky, Malevich: The Vitebsk Art School and UNOVIS, 1918-1923.
