Semyon Mikhailovsky

Born in 1961 in Leningrad. In 1984, graduated cum laude from the Faculty of Art Theory and History of the Repin Institute. In 1989, obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Architecture of the same institute. Associate Professor at the Chair of Architectural Theory and History of the Repin Institute, Professor Emeritus at the Moscow Architectural Institute.

Since 2008 – corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts
Since 2010 – principal of the Repin Institute, member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, and member of the Council for Culture of the Governor of St Petersburg
Since 2012 – member of the Council for Arts and Culture of the President of Russia

Curator, co-curator and organizer of exhibitions of Russian art in Stockholm, Venice, Taipei, Miami, Ravenna, Bologna, Rome, and other cities. Advisor for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation (2005).

Awarded with the Certificate of Honour from the Ministry of Justice of Russia and A. Koni medal.
