With NCCA’s Art-Rsidence located in Kronstadt NCCA’s North-Western Branch has taken particular interest in creating new educational and exhibition projects and working with various cultural venues in Kronstadt and views this line of activities as very important.
The Program «20th and 21st Century Art: «Thursdays» in the Russian Museum is a series of educational workshops for young artists – students of Art School for Children named after Mikhail Anikushin. Visual art of the 20th and 21st centuries is to become part of the school’s curriculum and help in developing students’ creativity.
The Project is based on lectures and workshops conducted by leading experts in art education in museums from Russian Centre for Museum Pedagogy and Children’s Crafts at the State Russian Museum, as well as by well-known contemporary artists from St. Petersburg and teachers from the Art School for Children named after Mikhail Anikushin.
The program combines classes in the exhibition space and workshops for students where the latter will create works of their own. Some lectures are to take place in the Russian Museum – the Benois Wing, Ludwig Museum and at temporary exhibitions in the Marble Palace; the program also includes theme-based workshops meant to reinforce theoretical part.
The Project will result in an exhibition of the students’ works created after lectures and workshops, and a tutorial workshop for St. Petersburg art-educators.
