Karl Eimermacher (Germany): Meeting with the Artist 

October 1, 2012 participant of the Program for young Practicing Artists will meet with an artist from Germany Karl Eimermacher.

Karl Eimermacher (born in 1938) is an artist, art-historian and slavist, former professor in the Ruhr University (Bochum). Eimermacher is a Dr.h.c. of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU) and Association of Scholars of Russian Society-XXI Century (AIRO XXI). He is an author and editor of works on the normative aspects in Russian and Soviet literature, history of Tartu-Moscow Semiotic School, Soviet cultural Policy, as well as studies of structural changes in Russian science and tertiary education.

In the early 1990-s Karl Eimermacher turned to art and created a series of graphic and photographic works which have been later supplemented by metallic sculptures thermatizing historical and existential aspects of the 20th century.

Program for Young Practicing Artist – is a joint project developed by the PRO ARTE Foundation and NCCA, St. Petersburg. The Project enjoys the support of the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation
