Lecture by Victor Mazin, “Sigmund Freud and the return of the macabre”

  The forth lecture from “Critical Theory and Practice of Fine Arts” lecture series is devoted to the idea of “psychoanalytical criticism”, to the relations between subject and culture, to Freud’s two critical strategies. The attention will be specifically focused on the aesthetics of the macabre filling in the aesthetics of the sublime.

  Victor Mazin is a psychoanalytic, critic, chief editor of the “Kabinet” magazine, author of numerous articles and books on the problem of psychoanalysis, deconstruction and art-critics, founder of the “Freud’s Dream Museum” in St Petersburg.
