Exhibition of Contemporary Photography

Exhibition center “Hermitage –Vyborg”

The exhibition presents a series of photos taken at the Museum and Park of the Gatchina Palace (St. Petersburg) by photographer Yuri Molodkovets. In a series called "Marble - 2" Molodkovets uses new techniques presenting the statues as portraits. Specially installed light, zooming and unusual focus with extraordinary ornamental details reveal in ancient appearances an intriguing modern psychology.

Yuri Molodkovets is an art photographer of the State Hermitage, author of photographs for more than 200 catalogues and albums dedicated to the Hermitage and other art collections, as well as for the books on the history and architecture of St. Petersburg. He is the author of more than 30 personal large-scale photo projects, held in the exhibition spaces of Russia and Europe. The works by Yuri Molodkovets are in the collections of 14 Russian museums, as well as in private collections in Russia, France, and Great Britain. He is the member of the editorial boards of the magazines "Hermitage" and "Projector", chief photographer of the magazine "Addresses of Petersburg".
