A series of seminars “What Is Contemporary Art?” is an intensive immersion into the field of contemporary critical thought. By ‘intensive immersion’ we mean reading huge bulks of texts in the original language (English) as well as participation in discussions. The seminar doesn’t aim to embrace all the theories and practices, associated with the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. Its aim is to introduce the participants to the key texts of the period that, to a large extent, have shaped the context of modern artistic statement.
Alina Belishkina is a curator and lecturer in critical theory at “FotoDepartament” Foundation, St Petersburg.
For the program participants only.
School for the Young Artists is a joint project of the St Petersburg PRO ARTE Foundation and the North-Western Branch of NCCA. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation
