08.10 - 21.11.2010
Curators: [Evgeny Umansky], Magda Kardasz
The Kaliningrad Branch of NCCA and Zachęta National Gallery of Art (Poland) will hold an exhibition of Kaliningrad contemporary artists “From Kaliningrad with Love” in the “PROJEKT kordegarda” exhibition space (Warsaw, Poland) from October 8 till November 21, 2010.
The exhibition “From Kaliningrad with Love” in the new space of Zachęta National Gallery of Art (“PROJEKT kordegarda”) for the first time in Warsaw exclusively gathers together the works which are created by contemporary Kaliningrad artists who form their unique image of the city enabling the spectator to sense and accept this special land.
“Wild Russian West”, exclave, “abroad”, the Russian Koenigsberg – this territory which became a part of the USSR after World War II, gives rise to a multitude of associations. The region is a piece of Russia that doesn’t border on it in any way. But that is just the beginning of all its geographical and historical peculiarities entailing a number of reflections: Kaliningrad – Koenigsberg, Russia – Prussia, the eastern parts of Europe or the westernmost part of Russia…
The exhibition “From Kaliningrad with Love” will also feature multimedia presentations of the projects devoted to Kaliningrad: the international competition “Tower Kronprinz: Second Advent” and the edition “ART-GUIDE. Koeningsberg/Kaliningrad today”.
The exhibition opens on the 8th of October, 7 p.m.
“PROJEKT kordegarda”, Warsaw, Gałczyńskiego st., 3.
