Baltic Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts (NCCA) as a part of ROSIZO together with the Embassy of Sweden in Russia presents an exhibition “Bergman. Metamorphoses” that is dedicated to the centennial of one of the most influential 20th-century filmmakers Ingmar Bergman.
The exhibition program, curated by Karina Karaeva, consolidates the contemporary artworks inspired by or conducting a dialogue with Ingmar Bergman’s aesthetic, interpretation, manner, and personality. Through the series of video images, installations, photographs, paintings and objects their creators comprehend and disclose the subtle sides of the artist’s performance technique. Allegory, deconstruction of narrative, reclusion, limiting figurative symbolism, inherent to Bergman’s cinema language is reflected in the art projects by Natasha Dahnberg (Sweden), Marcus Lindeen (Sweden), Julia Zastava (Russia/Austria), Albina Mokhryakova, Gentle Women Group and other Russian and foreign artists.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on April 14, at 17.00 in the Baltic Branch of NCCA’s space. The opening ceremony will be attended by the Ambassador of Sweden to the Russian Federation Peter Ericson, the Counselor for Culture of Swedish Embassy in Russia Stefan Ingvarsson, exhibition curator Karina Karaeva, artist Natasha Dahnberg. At 18.00, there will be an artist talk by Natasha Dahnberg and curator Karina Karaeva will conduct a guided tour.
