Milk without a Bottle
Curatorial project of the Kariatiada 2013 award winner
Ekaterina Inozemtseva (Moscow)
30 January – 13 April

The Milk without a Bottle exhibition opens the annual Woman in Action festival dedicated to the latest achievements of contemporary “women of the art” – young organizers of the most significant art projects. Curator of the Milk –Ekaterina Inozemtseva offers her own answer to the question “where abstract art comes from?”

The exhibition’s name is taken from the text “Suprematism” by Kazimir Malevich: “Non-Objectivity of Art is the Art of pure feelings, it is milk without a bottle, existing on its own, it doesn’t depend on a bottle’s form; this bottle doesn’t represent its essence and taste”. Authors explore mechanism of transformation of an “objective” artistic image into an abstract one using the example of works of famous photographers of the 1930-1950s and contemporary Russian artists. Artist Vitas Stasyunas will create a new graphic work “Into Milk” on a wall of the Arsenal exhibition hall.
