Despite its fifty-year history the nature of Butoh, a popular trend in contemporary Japanese dance, is still scarcely studied and explored. Comments by master Katsura Kan during the Butoh in History and Contemporary World discussion will fill this gap. Leading Butoh dancers from Japan, Finland, Russia and neighboring countries were invited to participate in the discussion.

This discussion is a part of the RootsBranchesproject that aims to promote Butoh and nonverbal theater in Russia.
