Öyvind Fahlström "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine". Film still
In January 1966 ten New York artists and thirty engineers from the Bell Telephone Laboratories started joint experiment; the result of it was a series of choreographic, musical and theatrical works using new technologies. Artists John Cage, Lucinda Childs, Öyvind Fahlström, Alex Hay, Deborah Hay, Steve Paxton, Yvonne Rainer, Robert Rauschenberg, David Tudor and Robert Whitman, together with engineers showed their performative installation in October 1966 in New York in the Arsenal of the 69 military regiment. It was recorded and filmed in color and black-and-white film. One year later Robert Rauschenberg and Billy Kluwer found E.A.T. (Experiments in art and technology) Foundation, whose goal was the implementation of projects at the intersection of science and art. The actions of E.A.T. were the source for such a topical movement today as “science art”, but they were still little known in Russia. Films about actions by Öyvind Fahlström and Robert Whitman will be shown as part of the project “9 evenings. Theatre and Engineering. Experiments of the New-York School”.
