Place: National Centre for Contemporary Arts, the small hall
Curator: [Vitaly Patsyukov]
As part of the “One Sixth Plus” humanitarian fine arts program of the Russian Creative Union of Artists
Sponsored by the International Fund for Liberal Cooperation of CIS Government Participants, the Lithuanian Consulate in Russia, the Latvian Consulate in Russia, the Estonian Consulate in Russia, and the Austrian Consulate in Russia
“Before one’s eies/Ad oculos” presents a “feminine outlook” on a world that lies beyond the borders of gender phenomena. The artists of the Project organically combine a particular emotional integrity and intellectual phenomenality, manifesting the “apparency” of their creative positions. The stars of European video art, laureates of international forums on radical art and the Venetian Biennale, will meet in a single field of the visual, laying bare the uniqueness of the commonplace. In examining the deeply personal, all the exhibition’s participants simultaneously turn to the universal problems of contemporary society. The “Ad oculos” exhibition reveals a field of finite proximity, focusing our attention on a reality that is plain for all to see, “before one’s eyes”, but that initiates into its dimensions only the person endowed with the enhanced vision of the video camera.
